DUBAI, 3 December 2021 – Russia National Day at Expo takes place on 4 December, but the country began its celebrations a day early, with a business and networking event organised by the Russia Pavilion, ‘Russia Forum: Leading the Future’, held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC). Taking place from 3-4 December, the event invites senior officials, specialists and experts from different sectors, as well as entrepreneurs, creatives and innovators, and is attended by Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.
There are several panels over the two days, including ‘The creative economy: From start-ups to new industries and the export of Russian technology’; ‘Russian technology companies in the course of global technology’; and ‘The future of medicine: Human brain and digital intelligence in the core of scientific discoveries’.
Alexey Fursin, Head of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development in Moscow, said: “At Expo 2020 Dubai, we are promoting the Russian innovation sector, and meeting with others to boost collaboration.”
With Russia being the largest country in the world, occupying one eighth of the Earth’s surface, the forum discussed the steps taken in recent years to encourage investment, and highlight the sectors that might be of interest to Middle East countries.
On the electronics market and procurement delivery, Maxim Akimov, CEO of the Russian Post, said: “Russian companies are developing their electronic trading network, and this is very important – statistics show that half of the world’s population live in countries where e-commerce penetration is greater than in Russia.”
The forum addressed the diversity of geography, population and climate in Russia, and how it provides tremendous opportunities for potential partners, arguing that each region has something unique to offer, with its own competitive strengths. Many regions are now flourishing in a variety of sectors, including tourism, art, innovative development, science and technology.
