HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco: UAE and Monaco are hubs of ‘cosmopolitan exchanges’

DUBAI, 13 November 2021 – His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco has hailed the UAE and Monaco as hubs of “cosmopolitan exchanges”, during an interview for the principality’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai on Saturday, 13 November. His Serene Highness attended a range of cultural festivities across the Expo site to mark the day.

“These expos are generally a wonderful platform for [cosmopolitan exchanges], for international exchanges and dialogue and to present different opportunities [going] forward. And I think this crossroads of opportunities that is [Expo] Dubai 2020 was a great opportunity for us, not only to engage more with Dubai and the other emirates but also to create links with other countries,” HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco said.

His Serene Highness highlighted the principality as not only a land of tourism but also “a place for innovation, a place for international exchanges, a place for environmental concerns and new ways of producing and saving energy.”

“We are a place that cares about our biodiversity. We are a place that is able to expand in very peaceful ways [for example] our new land extension project… that I think is a model on a small scale, a model of development, a controlled development, one that put sustainable development and ecological concerns at the heart of the project,” His Serence Highness added.

His Serence Highness outlined the economic ties that already exist between Dubai and Monaco: “As early as 2017… our Monaco Economic Board signed with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Trade… an exchange agreement and so we’ve been able to bring economic delegations here to meet with their counterparts right here in Dubai, and that will continue also during this Expo.”

In addition, His Serence Highness said there are myriad other ways in which Dubai and Monaco can cooperate, “be it on the technological side, in the digital world… The avenue is also there to be able to cooperate in a more sustainable world. And if our countries can also cooperate in this field [and] in general areas of tourism and general areas of cultural or sports exchanges, I think every opportunity is there for us to continue our friendly relations [going] forward.”
