DUBAI, 13 November 2021 – The National Danish Performance Team dazzled audiences at Aussie Park in Expo 2020 Dubai’s Sports, Fitness, and Wellbeing Hub yesterday (November 12), with a world-class, modern rhythmic gymnastics show.
The 28-member group, whose aim is to promote fitness and spread happiness worldwide, showcased a routine that combines dance, cheer, artistic vaulting, tumbling and high-energy acrobatics.
Dinne Fredslund Andersen, Choreographer/Instructor, said: “The National Danish Performance Team wants to represent the idea that gymnastics and sports can be for all and should be fun. Our slogan is: ‘Sports for all. Sports for fun. Sports for life.’ That is the idea we travel around with. Sports can connect people from all over the world, and that is the idea we hope to spread around the world and here at Expo 2020 Dubai.”
For their exclusive 45-minute performance at Expo 2020, the instructor said the team participated in a two-month summer training programme, rehearsing for up to nine hours per day. The athletes, who travel around the world year-round to perform, also hold workshops to train people of all ages who want to take up gymnastics and acrobatics.
Ahead of their performance, Danish athlete Julie Høg Krogsgaard, 22, said: “It is such an amazing experience to be at Expo. It is something we will remember forever. All the creativity and seeing all the cultures and nationalities is very nice.”
The Denmark Pavilion, which is located in the Mobility District, presents a showcase of sustainable architecture and engineering, with features including a 6.5-metre-long Lego Viking ship, an 18-metre-high lighthouse-inspired tower, and a rooftop restaurant, bar and bakery.
