The International Chamber of Commerce, United Arab Emirates (ICC UAE) Banking Commission has been identified as a top performing Commission within the ICC global network during 2020.
Speaking at the General Assembly Meeting (GAM) of the ICC UAE Banking Commission held online Ahmad Lootah, Chairman of the ICC UAE Banking Commission, said: “The ICC UAE Banking Commission has been identified as one of the two top performing Commissions in the world in 2020.”
The GAM also elected a new steering committee for 2021- 2023.
Ahmad Lootah, CEO & Managing Director, Al Hilal Capital, was unanimously voted to continue as Chairman of the ICC UAE Banking Commission, while Huny Garg, Head of Trade & Supply Chain at SWIFT, and K. Nizardeen, CEO of CIB, were elected as Vice-Chairs respectively. Tom O’Brien, Technical Trade Advisor at China Systems was elected as Co-ordinator of Activities.
Addressing the GAM, Lootah said: “The ICC UAE Banking Commission 2021-2023 steering committees will strive to achieve the top global position by engaging with our UAE-based members, other countries and facilitating secure international trade.”
He added: “International trade finance rules and their proper application are critical in keeping global supply chains open during these challenging times. The tried and tested ICC global trade finance rules continue to underpin trillions of dollars of trade transactions.”
Vincent O’Brien, Director of ICC UAE, briefed the GAM about the many achievements and international events that the ICC UAE Banking Commission had organised in 2020.
