United Arab Emirates, August 3rd, 2020 – In 1984 adidas changed the world of footwear forever. Launching its first ever running franchise, the ZX series, the brand showed that performance sneakers could elevate runners of all types and abilities. Revered by running purists and sneaker enthusiasts alike, ZX quickly became a modern icon. Two decades after ZX’s inaugural release, adidas Originals returned with a celebration dubbed ‘A-ZX’. The unique program saw some of the brand’s most esteemed global partners each collaborate on 26 distinct ZX drops over the course of 2008 and 2009. In 2020, adidas Originals is bringing back A-ZX with a bang, propelling the iconic franchise firmly into the future.
So what’s it all about? Throughout 2020 and 2021, adidas Originals will release 26 special makeups of ZX ‘thousand series’ silhouettes. Leveraging a number of global retail and creative partners, as well as the brand’s own archive, each drop will see ZX re-imagined in never before seen ways through the lens of key cultural touchpoints. Paying homage to the iconic ZX ‘thousand series’ and the innovatively disruptive celebrations at the turn of the last decade, the relaunched A-ZX series serves as a new chapter for retro-running.
The 2020 A-ZX series kicks off officially in August with a first drop paying tribute to the ZX archive – the first ever re-release of the ZX 1000C from the late 80’s. The ZX 1000C will be retailed in the GCC at adidas.ae and select stores for the price of 500AED.
Information for each drop throughout the series will be shared prior to the release date at adidas.com/A-ZX.
