- Digital music festival takes off in two days, free registration open on https://freqways.mdlbeast.com/
- MDLBEAST has decided to support the WHO Foundation to raise funds in support of individuals, families and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
18 June 2020 – MDLBEAST Freqways, the 12-hour digital music festival, is only two days away until it embarks its viewers on a journey to discover the beauty of music around the world. Join MDLBEAST this Saturday the 20th of June 2020 at 7 PM – 7 AM (KSA time) on a virtual travel experience which will allow viewers to escape their four walls and dream.
For the festival, different locations have been specifically curated to highlight music capitals, as well as beautiful undiscovered locations around the world. MDLBEAST Freqways has selected various sets in Saudi Arabia which will showcase the diversity of destinations in Saudi Arabia. The sets chosen were UNESCO World Heritage Sites – such as Al Balad (Old Town) in Jeddah, and Jabal Al Qara and Alahsa Palm Oasis in the Eastern province.
Other incredible performance locations will include Vernazza, one of the five century-old villages that make up the Cinque Terre, on northwest Italy’s Ligurian coast; the depths of a grotto in Switzerland with stalagmites and stalactites framing the shot; and the music capital of the world, Ibiza, which not only combines music and culture, but also beautiful natural views of this unusually serene island.
Additionally, in an effort to bring together a global community and provide a truly authentic experience, the festival will feature virtual ‘gates’ allowing viewers to alternate between various stages with different DJs. MDLBEAST Freqways ‘flyers’ will be able to select any of three gates, each with their own distinct lineups of ‘pilots’ playing from a world of destinations. At each gate, all ‘flights’ will be taking off from Saudi Arabia featuring Saudi DJs to kick off the event. The lineup that follows takes viewers around the world on an unforgettable journey. Viewers will also be able to rewind and watch previous sets that have been streamed.
From Gate 1, tune in to Claptone from Berlin at 10:10 PM, Cosmicat from the Jeddah at 3:10 PM, Afrojack from Rotterdam at 7 PM and Deep Dish from Washington DC at 11:10 PM to name a few. From Gate 2, tune in to Sasha from Ibiza at 10:30 PM, Jade x Tala from Beirut at 6:30 PM, Maceo Plex from Dallas at 9:30 PM and more. Finally, from Gate 3, tune into Baloo from Thee Ain Village at 5 PM, Danny Tenaglia from Miami at 11 PM – full list of artists will be available on the website and social channels closer to the date and all timings are in KSA time (GMT +3).
MDLBEAST has also decided to make this year’s edition of the festival not only a digital one, but a responsible one where it has decided to support global health through the WHO Foundation. In the past months we have all been affected individually and collectively by the pandemic and the lock down, and MDLBEAST wanted to take its share and bring us all together to make the world a better and healthier place. The festival will thus be providing an amazing music experience to all viewers but also a powerful way to participate and donate for the health of future generations.
MDLBEAST will allows all viewers to make donations to the WHO Foundation throughout the duration of the digital festival. Festival attendees can either scan a prominently placed QR code which will lead them to the donation website; or by accessing the link on the website https://donate-covid19.whofoundationproject.org/.
All the donations made during the festival are going to contribute to the essential work of WHO to help countries prevent, detect and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
