January 28, 2020, Dubai: Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai is preparing to welcome Dr. Rola Ba-Abbad, a leading ophthalmologist in the field of Genetic Eye Diseases, with over 10 years of experience regionally and internationallyto its team of revered doctors and surgeons.
Dr. Ba-Abbad will join the Moorfields team as a visiting consultant ophthalmologist, her first visit dates will be February 19th and 20th. Dr. Ba-Abbad brings a unique skill set to the team, as she specializes in the area of genetic eye disease, including medical retina, electrophysiology and inherited retinal disorders for adults and children.
Originally from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ba-Abbad speaks English and Arabic Fluently.She holds a Ph.D. from University College London and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow since 2011. Additionally, she earned her bachelor’s degree (MBBS) in Medicine and Surgery from King Saud University and successfully completed her specialist training at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and affiliated hospitals in Riyadh in 2006.
She has a diverse background in the medical field, having worked throughout theregion and in countries such as the United Kingdom and Canada; practicing in leading medical institutions such as Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Throughout her career, she has embarked on extensive research that has furthered the study of inherited retinal disorders, visual neuroscience-clinical psychophysics, and electrophysiology of vision, which have been published in leading journals such as Ophthalmology and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, among others.
In addition to her remarkable list of accomplishments, Dr. Ba-Abbad is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and is the recipient of the Foundation Fighting Blindness: Diana Davis Spencer Clinical Research Fellowship Award in 2018.
