Third Edition of Abu Dhabi Educational Event Highlights Latest Thinking, Techniques and Treatments in the Field

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 05 November 2019:

Healthpoint and Manchester City Football Club are collaborating on a comprehensive full-day educational summit focused on sports medicine, with a multidisciplinary group of speakers including experts who work with footballers from the current UK Premier League champions.

The November 15 summit in Abu Dhabi, being held for the third year, will review the latest updates on sports injury treatments for both professional sportspeople and amateur athletes.

Dr. Jose Lopez, CEO of Healthpoint, a Mubadala Healthcare provider, says: “The summit is a popular event for two reasons. Firstly, of course, it is Continuing Medical Education-accredited, and creates a single platform where medical specialists can hear from the world’s leading physicians, clinicians and physiotherapists about advances in sports medicine and current best practices.

“Secondly, and just as importantly, it provides a forum for practitioners to network with other experts, share opinions and discuss burning issues facing practitioners in the field.”

Since 2014, Healthpoint has been the regional healthcare partner of Manchester City and has seen many exciting collaborations. Knowledge-sharing sessions have taken place at City Football Academy and Healthpoint is a proud partner of City Football School’s Healthy Lifestyle initiative, which educates and inspires schoolchildren in the region to make healthier choices.

Speaking at the Summit will be members from Manchester City’s sport science and physiotherapy teams, discussing how they work with players to maximize peak performance.

Other highlights of the day’s program include coping with concussions, rehabilitation techniques, spine stabilization and looking after the lower spine in footballers, as well as preventing and treating specific sports injuries and orthopedic problems.

In addition to discussing sports medicine for adults, the best practices in treating budding athletes will be addressed.

This will be followed by a lecture on pediatric injuries and practice updates from Healthpoint Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Marie Caron, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

For attendees, the full-day course constitutes seven CME hours, and registration (AED250, or free to Mubadala Healthcare practitioners), can be completed online at
